cincy's got major talent

so i have a brand spanking new obsession. bands from good ol' cincinnati. yes the town of cornhole and goetta and three ways ((the non sexual ones, perv)) finally has something to be proud of music wise.

until recently i thought the only bands that existed in cincy were sweaty potbellied men playing banjos to bluegrass and oldies. turns out, i am wrong.

numero uno obsession: close to home. ((thats their name)). now i know when it comes to music looks shouldn't matter. but let's face it, the world's imperfect and good looks reign as king. yes friends, close to home is a gorgeous band. but they can also rock hard. very hard. they have a sound like boys like girls, the fray, etc. with a little punch kicked in there every now and then. and when i mean "punch" you know i really mean "screaming". so of course they're a favorite of mine. they should be yours too: myspace.com/cth

another obsession: the upset victory. now cth rocks hard but the upset victory has a bit more fire in their songs. they're not hardcore deathcore screamo though don't worry. they just have what can only be defined as fire. their songs have hooks and amazing lyrics which will implant themselves in your brain for days. myspace.com/theupsetvictory

final obsession: a decade to die for. yeah yeah yeah. technically they're not from cincy, they're from the aquariam's home, newport kentucky. they remind me of a tackle box. you can't listen for less than thirty seconds without getting hit by tons of lively hooks. another band whose songs you'll be screaming as you skip down your school's hallways. well... maybe thats something i only do. either way, they're your new love. myspace.com/adecadetodiefor

note to michiganians: don't worry. you are neeeext. are you ready? (:

much love,
sallee ann <3

fake shark- real zombie!

yes, i know they're not on the first list but i've felt the urge to write about these boys for a while. well, at least since yesterday.

first off. let me introdude you to the boys of fake shark- real zombie.

there's:

col kevvvy clusterfuck
you'll see his sexy self belting out the vocals

nnnnMWuuu
he's sliding his hands up the neck of a guitar on stage

stumpy joe
his job is to bang. on drums. durr.

blimp pizley
is the canadian pete wentz. minus the baby.

together all these canadians make up the orgasmic fake shark- real zombie. now let's pause for a second. if your idea of crazy and out there and rebellious is avril lavigne... two things. one, you're messed up so you're better off logging off and getting serious mental help. two, you might be a bit of a wimp for these guys. their style is all unique and puts hot topic wear to shame.

now, the sound.

like i said, orgasmic, boner-ic. you get the point. their sound slightly reminds me of brokenCYDE or hyper crush. that kind of risque, raunchy sound put with screams and raps.

unforgettable, eh?

(:

off topic p.s.- heard cobra starship's cover, "i kissed a boy"?. no? gotta go check it! it's a favorite of me and cecilia.

does my taste in music sucky hairy tennis balls?
do you got a veggie beef with my writing?
are you secretly deeply and creepily in love with me?
tell me, foo'!

my favorite band (:

yes, i know. it's not fair or nice for me to have a favorite band and say which band is my favorite. but i can't help it if i do. 'cause let's face it, these boys have worked their butts off to earn that title. so who is my favorite band you ask?

almost arlington!.

maybe it's the "!" that makes them my favorite. or their killer photoshopped layout. or maybe cause i gotta crush on their friend dan candidi (whoops, secret spilled).

nah, it's none of that.

it's because i've talked with them about practically everything, get random comments and messages from them, how they're sending me an "assload" of stickers, making songs downloadable for just a certain person, and even considering driving ten hours out to ohio for a show.

all of that can be wrapped up into one little package: the fact that their fans aren't treated like they're supposed to love them and that the band feels like they deserve everything they get. there's an energy there that can't be found in every other band. it's embedded deep in the songs and in the band members. it's the drive and want to make it.

now what do they sound like?

mostly like every other post- blink 182 band with more meaningful lyrics that obviously mean something to the writer and, like i said, theres the indescribable part of their sound that just proves that this is something they've put their whole heart into and aren't just doing it because they have big enough pockets to.

that's why they're my favorite. give 'em a listen. see if they become yours

(:

Short... More to Come Later. Pinky Promise.

Kay, since apparently everyone wants new bands to listen to, now, I'll make this entry short-ish with just band names and a brief description. A fuller post about each of them will came later, because they all deserve more than just the following, but I gotta please you rascals so here it goes.

Almost Arlington!
Was there seriously any doubt about who would get written about first on my blog? Of course it's my Jersey boys, Almost Arlington. Absolute love right there.

Searching Streetlights
Gorgeous boys singing songs that'll find their way into your brain and stay there. Amazingness.
myspace.com/searching streetlights

American Diary
Fell in love with them at Warped. Their songs are catchy and energetic. Pure talent.

Breathe Carolina
One of those bands who I could listen to for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. The love child of techno and screamo is a gorgeous one.
myspace.com/breathecarolina

Midterm Break
Best UK band, in my opinion. Also the sweetest boys I've ever met, hun.

More about each band will appear very shortly. Count on it. Don't bet on it though cause betting's a bad habit (:

intro (:

haygurlhay! ahaha it's sallee ann. and this is... my blog (:

on this site i'll tell you all about my main love- unsigned/starting out bands. the ones who have a devoted fan base on myspace but still aren't discovered and well known in the non-myspace world.

there's prolly a ton of sites like this on this here blogspot, but mine's different. mine's actual writing. not just mindless blab about cute guys in skinny jeans. it's my dream to take the idea of this blog, giving bands an outlet to get even more fans, and make a living out of it. as a music journalist.

i've heard from many people that i'm a good writer but my school begs to differ. last year i got rejected from the school writing team. but that's whatev. i'm actually happy i didn't make it because that gave me the drive to write more and more.

plus michael jordan didn't make the school basketball team, right? right.

gah, i'm blabbing again. let's re-focus. this blog is not about me. it's about the bands. the bands that stay online for hours to talk to their fans in hope that it'll pay off in the long run. the ones that'll treat you like you're way more than a fan. more like a friend. the bands that drop you messages and comments randomly just to make sure you're still breathing.

they're my life.

the least i can do is write a little blurb for them sharing how much they are appreciated.

thanks for reading.

have an amazing day, on me.

(:
